"Hangs" on Boot Up, What Now? <
The number one cause of the VS-2480 boot up problems
have to do with data corruption on either the project it is trying to
load, or in the file that tells the 2480 "where the projects
are" in that partition. The way you get past this
problem is to hold down the two buttons over Fader #4 while turning on
the 2480 and booting up. This forces the 2480 to
boot up without loading the default (i.e. last) project. Unfortunately,
it also clears the file that tells the 2480 where the projects were
located on that partition, and it now appears to the 2480 as an EMPTY
PARTITION! If you have backup copies of those
files, you can simply start loading projects back into that empty
partition. However, if you need to recover those
files, it will require removing the hard drive from the 2480 and
putting it into a PC. Easy enough if you have a 2480HD, but if you
have a 2480CD or 2480DVD unit, it requires taking apart the unit to
reach the hard drive. If you want to try (or learn about)
recovering projects after a data corruption, go to: VS2480
