Important
Note:
All
Roland VS-2480's are 99.9% the same.
The Roland
VS-2480HD (or
simply VS-2480)
was the first model produced and uses an external CDR burner to burn
audio CD's, export .wav files, and back-up projects (via an external
SCSI port on the back). This SCSI port can also be used to attach an
external HD unit for additional (and faster) back-up storage.
The Roland
VS-2480CD was the
2nd model, which simply used an internal (built-in) CD Burner, instead
of an external burner. It still has the SCSI port on the back, and can
use external SCSI devices as well.
The Roland
VS-2480DVD is the
current model. Instead of a built in CDR, the 2480DVD has a built-in DVD/CDR
combo drive. This gives the 2480DVD all of the same functions of the
2480CD PLUS the ability to back-up projects to 4.7GB DVD-R disks.
The
VS-2480DVD uses the latest 2.504 Operating System which gives it it's
DVD burning capabilities.
However...
ALL 2480's can be upgraded to OS 2.504 and ALL can have DVD burning
capabilities!
If you are
considering purchasing a new Roland VS-2480DVD, you may want to look
into obtaining a pre-owned 2480HD or 2480CD... and adding an External
DVD Burner.
Doing this
will save you some serious $$$... and in the end, you will have all the
functionality of the 2480DVD, but at a huge cost savings.
