Cubase SX Control Surface Tutorial (pg. 2)

Setting up your VS-2480 to work with CUBASE SX as a control surface.
a tutorial by Andy Wheeler
of www.WiseMinds.com

Note: This requires that you update your VS-2480's operating system to V2.011 or higher. If you have not done so, it is highly recommended as it has new features and is very stable and bug free.

Time to make the VS2480 connection.  First off, make sure that your 2480 is on, and you have it's midi outs and ins connected via midi in and out on your computer.  I have an RPC1 card and use the midi in/outs on that.  I also have an EDIROL USB to MIDI converter and that could be used as well.  Just about ANY MIDI interface should work.

On your VS-2480 you only need to set the following items.  Go to your UTILITY menu and select CONTROL SURFACE (Only available in OS 2.010 or better).  In the CONTROL SURFACE settings switch V.FADER CONTROL SURFACE SW to ON, Set the C.S. TYPE to VS2480 (not S.C), and set the appropriate C.S. PORT to either MIDI, R-BUS1 or R-BUS2.  Exit out.

To turn on V.FADERS just hold down the SHIFT KEY and tap the V.FADER (TR 17-24) button on your VS2480.
